Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) to provide high-quality bedside care during full-time night shifts. You will support RNs by taking vital signs, assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes, while ensuring patient safety with alarms and gait belts.

Ideal candidates demonstrate compassion, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. Training includes BLS certification and IU Health PCA program completion.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Requires up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires ability to read and perform basic math.
• Requires ability to organize tasks and attend to details.

Responsibilities

• Provide drinks and assist with meal ordering.
• Encourage walking and assist with baths.
• Provide clean linens and gowns.
• Assist the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities or changes.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and bed/chair alarms; stay within arm's reach when moving.
