Job summary

STJ St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon, WV seeks a patient care assistant to support licensed nurses by providing direct and indirect care, comfort, and safety to patients. Under supervision, you will assist with admission, transfers, discharges, hygiene, and routine tasks while helping maintain a clean and safe environment.

This is a 40-hour-per-week, day-shift, non-exempt position. A high school diploma is required, and BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Observes and reports patient concerns/changes in condition to a registered nurse immediately.
• Assists the Registered Nurse with admission, transfer, discharge and general patient care duties.
• Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures; records intake and output.
