Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support direct patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, collecting specimens, and recording patient data in the chart on a busy 32-bed surgical unit.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of direct care experience or completion of relevant training. Full-time shifts are available, and a comprehensive benefits package is offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Department: 2 East Surgical Progressive Care

Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age‑specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship‑based care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Every other weekend and holiday per year required for full‑time and part‑time team members.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patients in completing ADLs, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices, and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT collects and sends specimens, including blood cultures and inserts/removes peripheral IV catheters. They record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
• 2 East cares for high‑acuity surgical patients who require frequent monitoring, multiple lines/tubes, and complex nursing care.
• The 32‑bed unit specializes in Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery— a fast‑paced, dynamic unit known for high volume and high patient turnover.
