Trinity Health Michigan in Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to provide direct patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, bathing, toileting, mobility, feeding support, and documenting patient information.

This full-time position offers shift options (6:30am-3:00pm, 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am) and requires a high school diploma or GED plus at least one year of direct care experience or completion of PCT/CENA/MA/EMT training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course required.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation with assistive devices and feeding.
• Collect and send specimens (including blood and blood cultures) and manage IV catheter insertion/removal and related documentation.
• Care for critically ill patients in a progressive care setting following events such as acute MI, cardiogenic shock, CHF, and post-procedural care.

Shift:

Position Purpose: The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm; 2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Status Available: Full-time, Part-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do:

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collects and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and inserts and removes peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• Critically ill patients recovering from acute MI, Cardiogenic shock, CHF, cardiac arrest, and various percutaneous interventions; Cardiac patients suffering from Heart attack, heart failure, arrythmias, and various percutaneous interventions, in a progressive care setting.
