Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Tech (PCT) to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in the 4 East Inpatient Rehab unit. The role includes assisting with ADLs, vital tasks, and documentation during 2:30pm-11:00pm or 10:30pm-7:00am shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• Assist patients in ADLs including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures; insert/remove peripheral IV catheters and document patient information in required systems.
• Inpatient rehab and a well-coordinated conditioning program for patients with TBI, stroke, orthopedic surgery, and spinal cord trauma.

Position Purpose

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available

2:30pm-11:00pm, 10:30pm-7:00am

Status Available

Full-time, Part-time

Every Other Weekend and Holiday per year required for Full-time and Part-time team members.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do

• Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.
• The PCT assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• A PCT will collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures and insert/remove peripheral IV catheters. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• Inpatient rehab, and a well-coordinated conditioning program for patients suffering from TBI, stroke, orthopedic surgery, and spinal cord trauma.
