Job summary

Lovelace Health System is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) for day or night shifts in Albuquerque, NM. This full-time role supports nursing teams with ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and patient transport, across Labor and Delivery, MedSurg, Post Partum, Recovery, and Rehab units.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma or GED, BLS certification within 14 days of hire, and a willingness to complete phlebotomy or CNA/PCT training.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 14 days of hire.
• Phlebotomy experience or training preferred.
• CNA/PCT certification or enrollment in nursing school is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities (bathing, dressing, feeding).
• Observe patients’ progress and relay reports to RNs or medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs; collect lab specimens.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure intake/output and assist with range of motion as needed.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with a range of motion, and draws blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• 2 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
