Job summary

Lovelace Health System, Inc. is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for day or night shifts in Albuquerque, NM. The role involves direct patient care, helping with daily activities, and assisting nursing staff.

The PCT will monitor vital signs, collect specimens, assist with transport, and document patient status. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, and obtain BLS within 14 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform patient care tasks under supervision, including ADLs.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred or coursework.
• BLS certification required within 14 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating and other ADLs.
• Observe patients' progress and report to RNs or medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for labs.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure and document intake/output and assist with ROM; draw blood.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, which include assisting patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients' progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines, assists patients with a range of motion, and draws blood.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• 2 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
