Job summary

Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM seeks a full-time Patient Care Technician (PCT) to assist patients with daily activities, monitor vital signs, draw blood, and transport patients as needed.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED and BLS certification within 14 days of hire. Preferred candidates have phlebotomy experience, 2 years in acute or long-term care, and relevant CNA/PCT/EMT-P credentials or enrollment in nursing school.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Preferred phlebotomy experience.
• 2 years of acute or long-term care experience preferred.
• CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification preferred or in nursing school.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff to perform all duties of a PCT, including assisting patients with daily activities (bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs).
• Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtains and records patients' vital signs and collects specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measures and records patients' intake and output and other measurements, assists with range of motion, and draws blood.

• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• 2 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Completion of approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification, which includes BLS, or currently enrolled in nursing school.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
