Job summary

Hillcrest HealthCare System in Tulsa, OK is seeking a PRN Float Pool Patient Care Technician (PCT). The role supports registered nurses with direct patient care, unit clerical tasks, and patient flow within a dynamic hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will perform vital signs, assist with transport, deliver meals, hygiene, and respond to patient inquiries while helping keep the unit stocked and organized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer.
• Oklahoma Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician licensure is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs PCT duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of an RN and unit manager.
• Assists with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs and transporting patients.
• Delivers meal trays, provides hygiene care, and answers patient inquiries within scope of practice.
• Receives patients at the desk, escorts to rooms, and provides initial instructions.
• Assists in transporting discharged patients and alerts nursing staff to patient arrival.
• May act as unit receptionist, assigns rooms, pulls charts, and monitors supplies.

Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

• The Patient Care Tech performs PCT duties as well as clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) and the unit manager.
• Assists with patient care tasks such as obtaining vital signs, assists in transporting patients, pass meal trays, deliver hygiene care and answers inquiries within the scope of practice.
• Assists nursing staff by receiving patients at the desk, taking the patient to appropriate room, gives initial instruction;
• Assists in transporting discharged patients and answers inquiries within the scope of practice.
• In addition, he/she may act as the unit’s receptionist, assigns patient to room on board, alerts nursing staff to patient arrival, pulls and prepares chart; orders and monitors utilization of selected supplies: office, nutritional supplements, forms and retrieval chart back;
• Assists with stocking supplies that are needed in the unit as well as assist in keeping the nursing stations clean and organized .

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year, preferred.
• Licensure Oklahoma Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician.
