Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Tech to support nursing teams in the Lake Forest, Illinois area. The role involves specimen transport, EKGs, catheter care, and hygiene assistance as outlined in each patient’s plan of care.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of an accredited CNA program or nursing student rotation, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry OR nursing student who completed one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens as assigned.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Discontinues Telemetry Monitoring packs.
• Performs Bladder Scan.
• Performs Point of Care Testing as appropriate.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and nutritional needs as identified in the plan of care.
• Performs hourly patient rounding with the RN.
• Obtains and documents patient care data as directed by the RN.
• Assists with patient ambulation and positioning as directed in the plan of care.
• Supports the care team to meet patient needs.
• Responds to patient call lights promptly.
• Maintains a safe clinical environment for patient, family and staff.
• Assists with post mortem care.
• Engages in learning with NM Academy and annual training.
• Participates in performance improvement activities to achieve unit targets.
