Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Tech in Lake Forest, IL. You will perform clinical tasks under RN/physician supervision, including specimen collection, EKGs, and patient hygiene assistance.

The role emphasizes safety, hourly rounding, and collaboration with the care team. Training and performance improvement are part of the role, with a strong focus on patient-first care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and listed on the Illinois CNA Registry.
• BLS through American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, labels and transports specimens.
• Obtains 12 lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks and Indwelling Urinary Catheters.
• Assists patients with personal hygiene and mobility.
• Performs hourly patient rounds in collaboration with the RN.
• Obtains and documents patient care data in the EMR.
• Assists with patient ambulation and positioning.
• Maintains patient safety and responds to call lights promptly.
• Assists with post mortem care.
• Supports learning needs and training updates.
