Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Patient Care Tech to support clinical staff and patients on the unit. You will perform a range of patient care tasks under supervision, including specimen handling, EKGs and catheter care, while assisting with hygiene, mobility and nutrition as outlined in the care plan.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, CNA program completion with Illinois CNA Registry listing (or nursing student rotation), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited CNA program and Illinois CNA Registry listing or completion of one clinical rotation.
• BLS through American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of clinical/patient care related functions under the direction of the RN or physician.
• Collects, labels and transports specimens; obtains 12-lead EKGs.
• Discontinues Saline Locks, indwelling urinary catheters and telemetry packing.
• Assists with personal hygiene, nutrition, ambulation and positioning as per care plan.
• Maintains safety, responds to call lights promptly, and supports the care team.
