Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas in Nashville, TN is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the Float Pool on the night shift (PRN). The role focuses on direct patient care, vital signs, and supporting daily living activities.

You will perform blood draws, monitor intake/output, and document care to inform clinical decisions. Licensure, including BLS within 30 days, is required; Nurse Aide is preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire.
• Nurse Aide preferred.
• Licensure/certification can substitute education or experience if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records vital signs, accurately charting patient data and reporting abnormalities.
• Monitors and documents fluid intake and output to support safe patient care and clinical decisions.
• Performs blood draws as trained, following proper phlebotomy techniques and safety protocols.
• Provides direct patient care, including rounding with patients and assisting with activities of daily living.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Aide preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

What Additional Preferences We're Seeking

• 12+ months of direct care experience as a Patient Care Technician in a hospital setting
