Job summary

Ascension is seeking a dedicated healthcare professional for the Mercy Hospital Stepdown Intermediate Care unit in Oshkosh, WI. This full-time night shift role involves direct patient care, safety monitoring, and detailed documentation to support seamless care transitions.

Minimum requirements include BLS within 30 days and Nurse Aide registration in Wisconsin, with an emphasis on compassionate, patient-centered service and teamwork in a Catholic health system known for growth and community

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date (American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted).
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry before hire date; may require Wisconsin hospital eligibility.
• Other certifications may be required by specific job locations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate bedside care by assisting patients with daily living activities and ensuring comfort and dignity during their stay.
• Safely guide patient admission, transfer, and discharge to create a welcoming, low-stress environment.
• Observe changes in physical, mental, and emotional status and alert the nursing team for proactive care.
• Accurately document patient interactions and vital information in health records.
• Maintain a safe, healing environment by sanitizing rooms, organizing supplies, and keeping equipment ready for use.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver compassionate bedside care by assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and personal needs are met throughout their stay.
• Streamline patient movement by safely guiding individuals through admission, transfer, and discharge processes to create a welcoming, low-stress environment.
• Act as a vital link in patient safety by observing physical, mental, and emotional changes and immediately alerting the nursing team to maintain proactive care.
• Ensure seamless care continuity by accurately documenting patient interactions and vital information in official health records.
• Maintain a safe, healing environment by sanitizing patient rooms, organizing supplies, and ensuring medical equipment is clean, fully stocked, and ready for immediate use.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Nurse Aide credentialed from the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Certified Nursing Assistant credentialed from the state of Wisconsin, and in Nurse Aide Registry with eligibility to work in a hospital setting obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Additional certs may be required by specific job locations.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
