Job summary

Highmark Health in Pittsburgh seeks an enthusiastic patient care support for direct care duties and coordination on an inpatient unit. You will assist the RN with care for stable patients and participate in documentation within the electronic medical record system.

The role emphasizes basic nursing procedures, adherence to safety protocols, time management, and coordination of admissions, discharges, and transfers under RN supervision.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics.
• Basic computer skills.
• Preferred Acute care experience within last 3 years.
• Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program with at least one clinical rotation completed.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities such as ADLs, Vital signs, ambulation, specimen collection, I&O, and meal intake.
• Promotes safety and quality via bedside shift reports, hourly rounds, and hygiene protocols.
• Document changes in patient condition and communicate with nursing staff promptly.
• Assist with unit activities including supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
