Job summary

Highmark Health’s Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct patient care unit coordination. The role supports RNs in caring for acutely ill patients, follows infection control standards, and documents care in the EMR.

Responsibilities include ADLs, vital signs, specimen collection, and participating in quality initiatives. Requires high school diploma or GED and current nursing program enrollment; basic computer skills

Qualifications

• Minimum High School/GED.
• 1 year in an acute or long‑term care facility as PCA/PCT/NA/EMT or equivalent.
• Enrolled in an Associate's in Nursing or Bachelor's in Nursing program (Junior year).
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficient in Phlebotomy and straight catheterization.

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents direct patient care and activities (ADLs, vitals, etc.).
• Assists with admissions, discharges and transfers and coordinates unit activities.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and bedside reporting.
• Maintains a clean, safe patient/family environment and adheres to hospital policies.
