Job summary

Responsibilities include answering calls, routing clinical questions, registering patients, verifying insurance, scheduling, and handling payments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience in a medical office, patient registration, or referral coordination.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes.
• Familiarity with EMR systems, patient portals, and office communication tools.
• Strong telephone, written, and verbal communication; detail-oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Promptly answer calls using approved scripting and aid patients.
• Route clinical questions to physicians or clinical staff; communicate urgent requests immediately.
• Return all phone calls within one business day; address urgent calls promptly.
• Provide accurate messages to staff and task physicians with referrals.
• Register new patients using iHealth task list, verify demographics & insurance, and process referrals per policy.
• Assess insurance requirements, including referrals and contracted carriers, prior to scheduling.
• Schedule appointments and provide patients with directions and pre-appointment instructions.
• Collect payments due at time of service.
• Open or closing duties depending on schedule.
