Cataract & Laser Institute is seeking a flexible, patient-focused Patient Support Specialist to assist our optical, front desk, and technician teams. This role floats between departments, delivering patient-ready care and ensuring smooth visits.

You will be trained across areas, welcome patients, schedule, input data, and help move patients efficiently through exams while maintaining confidentiality and quality service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, optical sales, medical office, or patient service preferred.
• Willingness to learn across optical, administrative, and clinical support settings.

Responsibilities

• Help patients select frames and understand lens options.
• Assist with eyewear orders, adjustments, and other optical tasks.
• Welcome patients and assist with check-in and check-out.
• Schedule appointments, answer calls, and update patient/insurance information.
• Communicate with patients, referring offices, and clinic team members.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist with flow of visits.
• Gather and document patient information and perform testing within training.
• Support technicians and providers with exam-related tasks.
• Shift between assignments as clinic needs change.
• Document information accurately and protect patient confidentiality.
• Refer questions to a licensed clinician or supervisor when needed.
