Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor's in Health Science preferred.
• License Medical Assistant Certificate preferred., or Registration Certified Nursing Assistant preferred., or Certificate 1 EMT Basic License preferred., or Certificate 2 Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Demonstrated Medical Assistant (MA) competencies within one year of hire.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Through relationship development and care team coordination, contributes to the BIDHC patient, practice, and organizational goals.
• Assists patient over the course of their visit: facilitates timely flow and informs patient and provider of any delay in a timely manner.
• Communicates clearly with patient and team: provides hand-off to provider entering the exam room.
• Performs medical assisting duties under supervision: obtaining vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations, and assisting during procedures.
• Leads conversations to meet population health goals through outreach and health coaching.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensuring sterility and proper storage.
• Queues prescription renewals and enters orders in the EHR as directed by a clinician.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests and verifies insurance including referrals and pre-certifications.
• Identifies OSHA compliance issues and ensures PHI is used appropriately.
