Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 6 months clinical classroom.

Responsibilities

• Through relationship development and care team coordination, contributes to patient, practice, and organizational goals.
• Assists patient during visit: facilitates flow, informs of delays, updates medication and allergy lists, reviews screening questions, liaises between patient and staff.
• Communicates hand-offs to providers entering the exam room.
• Performs medical assisting duties under supervision: vitals, height/weight, EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, immunizations (MA grad), and routine procedures.
• Leads conversations to meet population health goals through outreach and health coaching; monitors activity and conducts data gathering.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies, ensures sterility and expiration checks.
• Uses EHR to queue renewals, enter orders, and document visit tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic tests and verifies insurance, prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications.
• Identifies OSHA issues and ensures PHI protection; reports adverse events.
