Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality patient care in a team-based model, supporting both clinical and administrative workflow across BIDHC patients.

You will take vital signs, assist during visits, document in the EHR, schedule tests, manage prep and post-visit tasks, and monitor safety and compliance. This is a per diem position with day shifts and emphasis on strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; health science Bachelor's preferred.
• MA certificate or equivalent certification preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web-based apps.
• MA competencies within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Builds empathetic relationships with patients, families and colleagues to support care.
• Assists during visits: manage flow, communicate delays, update meds and allergies.
• Communicates with patient and team, provides hand-offs to providers.
• Performs MA duties under supervision: vitals, height/weight, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations when certified, assist procedures.
• Leads population health efforts with outreach and health coaching; data gathering.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies; keep area clean and within expiration dates.
• Uses EHR to queue prescriptions, enter orders, document tasks for billing.
• Schedules diagnostic and lab tests; verifies insurance, prior authorizations, referrals.
• Identifies OSHA compliance issues and ensures PHI confidentiality.
