Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health, Inc. is seeking a Medical Assistant to provide high-quality, direct patient care within a team-based care model for BIDHC patients.

The MA will support administrative and clinical operations and collaborate with clinicians to ensure efficient visits. The role requires basic computer skills, a High School diploma or GED, and MA competencies within the first year of hire; related certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's degree in Health Science preferred.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to patient, practice, and organizational goals through relationship development and care team coordination (essential).
• Assists patient over the course of their visit; informs of delays; engages with patient on visit reason; updates medication and allergy lists; reviews screening questions.
• Communicates clearly with patient and team; provides hand-off to provider entering the exam room.
• Performs medical assisting duties under supervision (vital signs, height/weight, EKGs, phlebotomy, immunizations).
• Monitors population health efforts through outreach and health coaching; data gathering and basic coaching.
• Maintains medical equipment and supplies; sterile, within expiration; ensures patient access.
• Queue prescriptions and add new medications in EHR; assist with tests, services, or appointments in EHR; document tasks for billing.
