Job summary

Carilion Clinic is seeking a Clinical Patient Liaison for the Ortho Clinic. This part-time position on the day shift supports positive patient experiences by serving as a liaison with hospital staff and families in Roanoke, VA.

Responsibilities include assisting patients, answering calls, directing visitors, and ensuring HIPAA-compliant communication. Minimum education is a high school diploma with 2+ years of customer service; BLS-HCP within 6 months of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of customer service experience.
• Life Support: Must complete AHA BLS-HCP within 6 months of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; familiarity with office procedures; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a resource for patients with effective communication and professionalism.
• Provide directions and assist with registration; answer phones with courtesy.
• Screen calls, route messages, and maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
• Support nursing staff with basic assistant tasks and age-appropriate care within standards.
• Document patient observations and assist with chart audits and scheduling.
