Job summary

StaffGreat.com is assisting an early-stage healthcare startup in San Francisco to hire a Patient Case Manager. You will guide patients and families from initial enquiry through eligibility, treatment preparation and follow-up, acting as the main point of contact and owning each patient’s journey.

You will gather medical data, manage consent, coordinate samples with external partners, and collaborate with clinical teams to address questions while maintaining confidential records.

Qualifications

• Direct patient-facing or client-facing coordination experience
• Proven record of handling sensitive, difficult conversations directly with patients and families
• Compassionate communication in distressing situations
• Roughly 2-7 years of relevant experience
• Comfort managing complex, time-sensitive logistics across multiple external parties
• A degree, with a strong academic background

Responsibilities

• Be the main point of contact for your group of patients, families and physicians through regular emails and video calls, guiding from first enquiry through eligibility, treatment prep and follow-up
• Own each patient's journey: collect data for eligibility screening, request records, manage consent paperwork, and keep every step on schedule
• Collaborate with senior leadership and medical/scientific teams, answer non-clinical questions and escalate clinical questions when needed
• Coordinate samples end to end: arrange collection/shipping with physicians and labs, track through results
• Lead sensitive conversations about risks, costs, billing and financial aid with compassion, and arrange practical support such as travel and scheduling
• Build and maintain patient trackers and confidential records; help formalize end-to-end patient process; may train/manage new case managers
