Job summary

NYU Langone Health seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support reception, registration, and patient care tasks within the NYS scope of practice. You will greet patients, schedule appointments, escort to exam rooms, collect vital signs, and assist with specimen collection as part of a team ensuring smooth patient flow.

You will also handle check-in/out, verify insurance info, use EPIC/MyChart for documentation, and maintain room readiness while upholding HIPAA and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Patient Care Assistant or Medical Assistant within the last two years.
• Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities; other language an asset; demonstrated ability in computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and completes check-in and check-out processes as needed.
• Answers phones and schedules appointments.
• Assists with escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing rooms for provider visit.
• Validates patient medical records per guidance when accessing/updating information.
• Takes vital signs and records in EPIC electronic medical record.
• Assists with collection of lab specimens.
• Maintains patient privacy per HIPAA standards.
• Stocks exam/treatment rooms with medical supplies and cleans areas per infection control standards.
