Responsibilities

• Welcoming and greeting all patients in person and by telephone.
• Verifying patient insurance.
• Collecting co-pays and co-insurance payments.
• Updating demographics and insurance information in the EMR.
• Obtaining prior authorizations and referrals when necessary.
• Answering the phone with proper etiquette and logging messages.
• Maintaining a clean, HIPAA-compliant reception area.
• Notifying providers of patient arrivals and delays to manage flow.
• Scheduling and canceling appointments to balance provider schedules.
• Calling patients for random urine drug screens and documenting results.
• Preparing patients for examination and assisting the provider.
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, including urine samples.
• Recording vital signs and generating lab orders in the EMR.
• Printing requisitions for blood work and coordinating supply delivery.
