Job summary

SaVida Health in Coeburn, VA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to support our outpatient addiction treatment program. You will greet patients, verify insurance, collect co-pays, update demographic and insurance information in the Athena EMR, and assist providers during appointments.

You will schedule and cancel appointments, obtain prior authorizations, perform intake tasks, collect lab specimens, and help maintain a compliant, organized reception area.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant school with a high school diploma, or equivalent preferred.
• Assessment Testing is part of the application process.

Responsibilities

• Welcoming and greeting all patients in person and by telephone.
• Verifying patient insurance.
• Collecting co-pays and co-insurance payments.
• Updating demographics and insurance information in the EMR.
• Obtaining prior authorizations and referrals when necessary.
• Answering the phone with proper etiquette and documentation.
• Scheduling and canceling appointments.
• Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, including observed urine collection.
