Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Experience in a physician office setting.
• Proficiency with multi-line phones, fax, computers, and billing/coding references.
• Proficiency with EMR and practice management software; CPT/ICD coding knowledge.
• Ability to draw blood, perform EKGs and X-rays as ordered.
• Good verbal and written communication; ability to interact with patients.
• Must meet department attendance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and collect vital signs; record data.
• Draw blood for lab procedures and perform EKGs and X-rays as ordered.
• Administer injections and prepare patients for examinations such as pap smears.
• Assist with minor surgery and referrals; document medications in EMR.
• Maintain communication with nurses, physicians and supervisor; front office support as needed.
• Screen calls, relay physician instructions, and manage patient messages.
