Job summary

Health First is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support clinical care teams, coordinating admissions, discharges and transfers in a busy inpatient unit. You will manage communications with patients, families and staff, and ensure accurate charting and order processing.

The role emphasizes patient-centered service, teamwork, and effective handling of high-activity periods, with expectations for proactive problem solving and timely information sharing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and patient data handling.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and staff.
• Experience coordinating admissions, transfers or discharges is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate admission, transfer, and discharge under unit activity.
• Answer calls and facilitate communication among clinicians and patients.
• Schedule appointments and transportation for patients and maintain records.
• Process orders promptly and communicate critical information to staff.
• Maintain unit documentation and Teletracking for the nursing unit.
• Support patient experience and accurate hourly rounding and bedside reports.
• Act as unit SuperUser for applicable software and downtime procedures.
• Limited access to medication storage as needed.
