The role emphasizes accurate order processing, data entry into the EMR, and front desk support. Prior hospital/medical office experience and familiarity with medical terminology are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting preferred if not certified as a Health Unit Coordinator.
• 2+ years of experience with Windows-based applications and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient admissions, transfers and discharges with nursing staff.
• Assist with patient registration and scheduling procedures.
• Process physician orders accurately and timely.
• Enter patient information into the EMR and manage data entry as needed.
• Answer phone and front desk calls to support unit operations.
