Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a part-time Health Unit Coordinator to support patient flow and front desk operations at United Hospital. The role collaborates with nurses, physicians and the care team to coordinate admissions, transfers and discharges while ensuring accurate EMR entries and patient communications.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with preference for HUC certification or program completion and 2+ years in a medical setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Health Unit Coordinator program preferred.
• 2+ years of medical office or hospital experience preferred if not certified as HUC.
• Experience with Windows-based applications and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient care with nursing staff and multidisciplinary team.
• Performs admissions, transfers and discharges and handles patient registration.
• Processes physician orders accurately and timely.
• Enters patient and caregiver information into the EMR system.
• Answers phones and manages front desk and check-in duties.
• May transport medications under RN supervision.
