**Overview:**
Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness.

Position Details

• Position: Patient Care Associate
• Department: ICU Stepdown
• Hours / Shift: Full time / Days

Job Responsibilities

• Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system.
• Assist with patient care needs including meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.
• Perform clerical support duties, as needed.

Training Program

• Our accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offers comprehensive, hands-on training. Join Mercy to gain valuable skills and credentials in a supportive healthcare environment!
• If no prior experience, Mercy provides a 175-hour training program meeting Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. This is part of the new hire orientation and must be completed within 90 days of hire.
• BLS certification is required within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies within 3 months.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program; or a current Mercy employee.
• Experience: None required.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Prolonged standing and walking.
• Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
• Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
