**Overview:**
Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness.
Position Details
- Position: Patient Care Associate
- Department: ICU Stepdown
- Hours / Shift: Full time / Days
Job Responsibilities
- Obtain vital signs and document into the electronic medical records system.
- Assist with patient care needs including meals, bathing, toileting, ambulation, patient mobility, and transport.
- Perform clerical support duties, as needed.
Training Program
- Our accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program offers comprehensive, hands-on training. Join Mercy to gain valuable skills and credentials in a supportive healthcare environment!
- If no prior experience, Mercy provides a 175-hour training program meeting Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. This is part of the new hire orientation and must be completed within 90 days of hire.
- BLS certification is required within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies within 3 months.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC, or enrolled in a healthcare career program; or a current Mercy employee.
- Experience: None required.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds regularly.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat.
- Preferred Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
