Job summary

Mercy Hospital Washington is seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) for the Surgical & Orthopedic Unit. The role is full-time days, assisting with patient care under the supervision of an RN or LPN while helping with meals, hygiene, and vital signs.

Our unit emphasizes teamwork, compassion, and clinical excellence. Training includes a 175-hour program, with no prior experience required and opportunities for growth within Mercy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CNA/CPTC preferred or enrollment in a health career program.
• No prior healthcare experience required – Mercy provides training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk frequently.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record vital signs in the EMR.
• Assist patients with meals, hygiene, toileting, ambulation, and transport.
• Provide clerical support as needed.
• Phlebotomy and blood cultures.
• Enteral feedings.
• Wound care; IV/Foley removal.
• Tracheostomy care and suctioning.
• Advancement opportunities through the career ladder.
