Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support hospitalized patients under the supervision of registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. This role involves a structured training program to build knowledge and skills for safe, compassionate patient care, including daily living activities, vital signs, and documentation in the EHR.

Qualified applicants will have strong English communication, the ability to follow directions, and a willingness to work in shifts.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.
• Must be able to read, write, communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care by assisting with activities of daily living, including hygiene, mobility, nutrition support, and comfort needs.
• Obtain and document vital signs, intake and output, and other patient information in the EHR.
• Support a safe patient care environment through adherence to established safety practices and protocols.
• Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team to support care delivery.
