Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a patient care support role to assist direct care providers with safe handling of patients across the Medical Center. The position emphasizes hands-on training in lift techniques and equipment management within a high-volume academic health system.

The role requires six months of healthcare experience (or equivalent training), basic medical terminology knowledge, and current BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Minimum six months experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Responsibilities

• Assist direct patient care providers with safe patient handling, including lifting, positioning, transferring, and transporting.
• Promote an environment of safe patient handling and train healthcare providers in lift techniques and transfer equipment.
• Track, deliver, clean, and perform basic repair of equipment and supplies; may assist with dispatch duties.
