Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a role focused on assisting direct patient care providers with safe patient handling and patient transport within the Medical Center. The incumbent will promote safe handling practices and support in the education and training of healthcare staff in lift techniques and transfer equipment.

The position also involves maintaining equipment and supplies, potentially performing dispatch duties, and ensuring a safe work environment for both patients and care teams.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (issued by the AHA).
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Responsibilities

• Assist direct patient care providers with safe patient handling, including lifting, positioning, transferring, and transporting.
• Promote an environment of safe patient handling to ensure patient and staff safety.
• Provide direct patient care as well as education and training for health care providers in lift techniques and transfer equipment.
• Track, deliver, clean, and perform basic repair of equipment and supplies; may perform dispatch duties occasionally.
