Job summary

UCI Health is seeking staff to assist direct patient care providers with safe handling and mobility support within the Medical Center. The role emphasizes patient safety, training for lift techniques, and equipment upkeep across campus sites.

The incumbent will promote a safe work environment, deliver basic equipment repairs, and may perform dispatch duties as needed. This position requires English proficiency and availability for variable shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Minimum six months experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Responsibilities

• Assist direct patient care providers with safe patient handling (lifting, positioning, transferring, transporting).
• Promote an environment of safe patient handling and patient safety.
• Provide direct patient care and education for health care providers in the use of lift techniques and transfer equipment.
• Track, deliver, clean, and perform basic repair of equipment and supplies.
• Occasionally perform dispatch duties.
