Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a dedicated patient care technician to join the Medical Center team. The position involves assisting direct patient care providers, promoting safe patient handling, and supporting transport and equipment management across Orange and Irvine campuses.

The incumbent will provide hands-on patient care, educate health care staff in proper lift techniques, track and perform basic repair of equipment, and may perform dispatch duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic medical terminology.
• Must be able to work variable shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
• Minimum six months experience in a healthcare environment or training in a healthcare/emergency/rescue field.
• Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way.
• Current BLS certification upon hire (must be issued by the AHA).
• Ability to float between Orange and Irvine campuses.

Responsibilities

• Assist direct patient care providers with safe patient handling, including lifting, positioning, transferring, and transporting.
• Promote a safe work environment and safe patient handling.
• Track, deliver, clean, and perform basic repair of equipment and supplies; may be dispatched occasionally.
