Job summary

Haywood Regional Medical Center - A Duke LifePoint Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the PCU/Telemetry unit. This full-time night shift (7p-7a) includes rotating weekends and involves delivering basic patient care under RN supervision in a 22-bed PCU/Telemetry setting.

The role emphasizes monitoring vitals, ADL assistance, and use of advanced cardiac monitoring technology to ensure safe, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
• Registered in NC as a CNAI within 6 months of completing training program
• License: CNA or EMT preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake/output
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation)
• Observes and promptly reports abnormal findings to nursing staff
• Keeps patient rooms and common areas clean, safe, and stocked
• Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and department throughput
• Documents care and activities per unit standards
• Participates in performance improvement and required education; performs other duties as assigned
