Description

As a Patient Care Assistant, you will provide hygiene and comfort measures and selected nursing procedures under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). The Patient Care Assistant must also demonstrate the skills and knowledge necessary to provide care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. These responsibilities include bathing, grooming, and feeding patients.

Responsibilities Include

• Identify patient needs and report to RN.
• Carry out delegated, appropriate nursing actions for each patient.
• Deliver nursing care demonstrating knowledge and sound judgment.
• Report observed physical and emotional reactions to the holistic plan of care.
• Complete all charts/forms accurately and timely (e.g., Vital Signs, weights, Intake and Output, documentation on Flow Sheet).
• Reinforce patient teaching and instructions provided by the RN.
• Receive report and communicate continuously with the RN throughout the shift.
• Seek knowledge related to patient’s condition, disease, or treatment and reflect this in patient care.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in patient care, including taking vital signs, is required.
• Nursing students who have completed at least one clinical rotation are encouraged to apply.
• BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
• Previous CNA training or current CNA experience is a plus.
