Hillsboro Health in Hillsboro, IL is seeking a Patient Financial Services Specialist to provide exceptional customer service and financial guidance to patients regarding their medical bills. This includes outbound calls, responding to inquiries, and meeting with patients in person.

You will assess eligibility for payment plans and financial assistance, document all interactions in the EMR, and communicate options clearly to help patients access care without undue financial hardship.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate/bachelor preferred.
• 2+ years in medical billing, financial counseling, or patient accounts.
• Knowledge of health insurance plans, billing procedures and financial assistance.
• Strong communication and empathy to explain finances clearly.
• Proficiency with billing software, EHRs, and MS Office.

Responsabilidades

• Call patients regarding balances, insurance information, or financial support options.
• Answer inquiries about billing, insurance coverage, and payment plans.
• Meet with patients in person to explain billing and discuss financial assistance.
• Evaluate patients' finances for eligibility of payment plans or charity care.
• Assist with completing applications for financial assistance or discounts.
• Explain payment options and resources to help patients decide.
• Document payment plans and follow up for required documentation.
• Verify insurance payments and patient responsibilities in the EMR.
• Collaborate with HIM and staff to resolve account discrepancies.
