Job summary

SYSTEM West Virginia University Health System is seeking a billing specialist to resolve patient billing concerns and implement collection policies. You will interview patients for payment arrangements and charity assistance, and work with them to resolve account balances in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities include posting payments, addressing payer issues, rebilling when needed, and maintaining knowledge of Medicare processes and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Accurately posts data (payments, adjustments) as needed.
• Resolves patient billing and third party payer concerns.
• Interviews &Counsels patients for payment arrangements and/or charity assistance.
• Answers patient questions quickly, accurately, and courteously.
• Rebills accounts as necessary.
• Works with patients to resolve account balances.
• Maintains current knowledge of Medicare reimbursement process and audit regulations.
