Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) is seeking a patient accounts professional to manage billing, collections and reconciliation for Crime Victim compensation-related accounts. Ensure charity allowances or other coverage are applied and monitor from discharge through discharge reconciliation per payer terms.

The role requires at least one year in hospital or medical billing, knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, strong data entry and communication skills, and a preference for CHAA certification

Qualifications

• Must have effective written and verbal communication.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Familiar with computerized patient accounting systems preferred.
• Experience with medical management software preferred.
• Ability to accurately enter data and describe follow-up activity.
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party billing preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Basic computer literacy (Excel) and keyboarding skills.

Responsibilities

• Total patient account management including billing, collections and reconciliation.
• Ensure charity allowances and/or other coverage are applied as appropriate.
• Accounts managed from discharge until reconciled per payer contracts and regulations.
