Qualifications

• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of UB-04 and EOB interpretation.
• Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 codes.
• Intermediate knowledge of insurance collections and insurance terminology.
• Working knowledge of aging reports.
• Computer experience with Windows-based programs.
• Heavy telephone skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow up and collections, including making telephone calls and accessing payer websites.
• Identify issues or trends and provide resolution suggestions.
• Accurately document pertinent collection activity.
• Review accounts to determine next work steps.
• Verify claims adjudication using appropriate resources.
• Initiate calls or letters to patients for information.
• Perform billing functions including manual re-bills and electronic submission to payers.
• Edit claims to satisfy billing compliance guidelines for electronic submission.
• Manage desk inventory, complete reports, and resolve high-priority aged inventory.
