The University of Southern California Arcadia Hospital is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to help patients understand insurance benefits and financial liability, including unfunded cases. The role involves daily QA on accounts, pursuing collections, and advising patients about coverage and financial options.

You will assist with eligibility for government programs, financial assistance, and coordinate with care teams to ensure accurate authorizations and informed decisions.

Qualificações

• 1-year prior experience in health insurance, medical office or hospital.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• M.A.B certification required; new hires must obtain within 6 months.
• Complete Certified Patient Access Course and Specialist Exam within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilidades

• Explain hospital policies and obtain treatment or billing consents for each type of Health Plan.
• Determine patient financial status and explain financial responsibility and patient rights.
• Perform quality control on accounts and monitor insurance benefits to ensure correct authorizations.
• Screen patients for financial assistance and assist with completing forms for government programs and other options.
• Coordinate with Care Coordination and Admitting staff on screening determinations and outcomes and related documentation.

Formação académica

High School diploma or equivalent

Associate degree preferred
