Job summary

Texas Oncology in Harlingen, TX is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to educate patients on insurance coverage, determine financial options, and help complete eligibility and assistance applications. This full-time role supports the Medical and Radiation Oncology departments at the 2121 Pease clinic.

Under supervision, you will obtain pre-authorization codes, verify demographics, and liaise with billing to ensure patient co-pays are processed correctly, while maintaining confidentiality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and use correct terminology.
• Completion of required e-learning courses within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, and out-of-pocket costs.
• Assess patient financial ability and discuss payment arrangements.
• Complete patient cost estimates based on diagnosis and coverage.
• Obtain pre-authorization or referral codes prior to treatment.
• Review account balances and coordinate with front desk and billing.
• Ensure accurate entry of patient co-pays and updated demographics.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all duties.
• Develop relationships with financial aid providers and stay updated on programs.
