Job summary

HopeHealth, Inc. is seeking a Patient Benefit Counselor to serve as the organization’s financial advocate for patients seeking benefits covering medical care, prescriptions, and referrals.

The role involves collecting data for new patients and entering it into the practice management system for reporting purposes, with emphasis on eligibility determinations and coordination with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; an associate degree is preferred.
• 1–2 years in a medical office or hospital setting, front office or financial counseling preferred.
• Experience with eClinicalWorks is preferred; proficient with Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Meet with all new patients at first visit to HopeHealth.
• Screen new patients for benefits applications via forms.
• Review, input and scan new patient paperwork.
• Enter critical patient data into the practice management system.
• Use SC Thrive to determine eligibility for Medicaid, ACA, SFDP, and WellVista.
• Assist eligible patients with required Medicaid, SFDP, ACA, and WellVista documents.
• Verify eligibility and explain benefits to patients and their responsibilities.
• Coordinate with other HopeHealth departments to address financial needs.
