Job summary

The US Oncology Network at the Texas Oncology Bastrop clinic is seeking a Patient Benefits Representative to educate patients on insurance coverage and benefits, assess financial ability, and assist with payment arrangements. This full-time role supports Oncology and Radiation departments and coordinates with billing and patient access teams.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and several years of pre-services coordination or patient benefits experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three years patient pre-services coordinator or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CPT coding and HCPCS coding application.
• Must be able to verbally communicate clearly and utilize appropriate terminology.

Responsibilities

• Educates patients on insurance coverage, benefits, co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Assesses patient ability to meet expenses and discusses payment arrangements.
• Completes insurance pre-authorization or referral codes prior to treatment.
• Reviews patient balances and coordinates with billing to ensure accuracy.
• Maintains demographics and insurance data in the system according to SOPs.
• Stays current on available financial aid and builds relationships with aid providers.
• Adheres to HIPAA laws and company confidentiality standards.
• Performs additional duties as requested.
