Job summary

Optum is hiring an Admitting Clerk in Glendale, CA, in the Admitting Department. You will enter demographics, verify patient identity, collect data for billing, and ensure compliance with CMS/EMTALA. Shifts are 12 hours, 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM, with weekend flexibility.

Requirements include a high school diploma and 3+ years in hospital registration or related roles, plus Medicare/Medicaid and insurance experience. Cerner/MS4 knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years in hospital patient registration or related revenue-cycle role.
• 3+ years of experience with Medicare/Medi-Cal and Commercial insurers.
• 1+ years of experience handling financial payments or patient billing.

Responsibilities

• Enter demographic and insurance data accurately in the ADT system.
• Verify patient identity and prevent duplicate MRNs.
• Ensure required documents are scanned and patient materials provided.
• Support CMS/EMTALA compliance and downstream billing processes.
• Escalate issues to Financial Clearance or Counseling as needed.
