Job summary

Appalachian Regional Healthcare is seeking an Admissions Clerk to provide efficient and courteous registration, transfer, and discharge of patients at our facility.

You will greet patients and visitors, answer calls, manage charts and records, handle payments, and coordinate with clinical staff to ensure smooth admissions. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED, basic typing speed, and experience with front-desk duties; on-the-job training is provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 3–6 months on-the-job training required for proficiency.
• Experience dealing with the public is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in person or by phone, providing courteous information.
• Operate telephone, paging, and communications system; maintain records and assist families.
• Determine patient needs and coordinate admissions or referrals; escort as needed.
• Maintain inpatients roster, admission scheduling, and room availability communications.
• Prepare records relating to admission, payment, and discharge; pull patient charts.
• Handle money and complete cashier duties; issue receipts.
• Operate standard office machines and equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
